Lime är en citrusfrukt… men… på Trinidad och Tobago, längst söderut i den karibiska kedjan av öar, är lime också en aktivitet, ett tillstånd, en känsla. När man är med goda vänner, när dagens plikter är avklarade, när man tar i…gen sig med polarna nere på gathörnet och, som vi Göteborgare säger, tjôtar lite. Big Lime är ett litet band av tajta musiker som tillsammans med Rapso Rebel bjuder på en stor musikalisk lime med ljudet av bensinfat och riktig Mer…calypso, soca och rapso. Så, kära vänner, kom ner till Kåken “and lime with us”… Big Lime.

Rapso Rebel från Trinidad & Tobago är en pionjär inom rapso musiken som utvecklades på 70-talet i Trinidad. Med bandet Network Riddum Band fick han tillsammans med Brother Resistance en världshit med låten “Dancing Shoes”.

Big Lime är en mindre variant av Soca Rebels som sedan 90-talet har spritt soca och calypso. Bandet har haft flera samarbeten med artister från Trinidad och släppt flera album på det karibiska ö-riket.

The title LADUMA! is a popular cheer at soccer matches in South Africa meaning “he scores! / Goal!” (literally “it thunders”) in Zulu.
Soca Rebels are a great example of how music ignores borders and geographical or cultural differences and just makes people dance and feel good – especially when it’s “Time 2 Jam” as it is during the world cup. More info here!
